Relegation-threatened Leeds United will attempt to separate themselves from the bottom three when they travel to West London to take on 10th-place Fulham for matchday 32 of the English Premier League. Leeds find themselves in a precarious position as we head into the final stretch of the 2022/23 Premier League season. Currently sitting 16th in the standings, United are only two points above 18th-place Nottingham Forest and are coming off heavy back-to-back home defeats. Things seemed to be turning around for Javi Gracia’s men who had managed to take seven points from a four match stretch in mid March into early April. Since then however, Leeds would go on to be humiliated 5-1 at Elland Road by Crystal Palace and would follow that up with a 6-1 thrashing at the hands of Liverpool on Monday, again in front of the home fans. They’ll almost certainly have to improve defensively if they want any shot of picking up points here as Leeds have now allowed a shocking 23 goals in their last eight matches.
Fulham should be in high spirits here after finally managing to put an end to an ugly losing streak with a 3-1 away win over Everton last weekend. The Cottagers had previously lost five straight before their triumph over Sean Dyche’s men and they will hope to carry over that momentum when they come up against a reeling Leeds team. Fulham’s consistency this season regardless of the venue is what has contributed to their excellent campaign as their home results haven’t been particularly standout. The hosts have the 12th-best home record in the division with six wins from 15 matches and currently hold a three point lead over 11th-place Chelsea. Marco Silva’s team was able to get goal contributions from their midfielders which was a much needed shot in the arm after the suspension to leading scorer Aleksander Mitrovic has left Fulham struggling for goals. A matchup against a leaky Leeds defense should provide the perfect opportunity for the Cottagers to kick on with a few more goals in a match that shapes up to be a high-scoring affair.
With both teams trending heavily towards high-scoring matches in recent fixtures, getting the over at this price looks to have a ton of value. Fulham missing out on their main striker will of course come as a blow, but the team showed they can get goal contributions from other sources and should come into this match confident of a repeat performance. Meanwhile, Leeds have looked utterly helpless on the defensive side of the ball and are averaging four goals conceded per match over their last three outings. Fulham could single-handedly cover this goals total with the way Leeds are defending at the moment but the visitors have shown an increase in their goal scoring output as of late, making it likely that they find the net as well here. Our Fulham vs Leeds prediction: over 2.5 goals
