Two sides that have struggled in recent weeks, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur will clash in the league this Sunday. Hosts Liverpool have lost ground in the title race, being five points behind Arsenal while Spurs are seven points below the top four. A month ago, Liverpool were perched at the top of the league and coasting towards the title. However, one win in their last five league matches leaves them five points behind leaders Arsenal. This gap may be wider by the time they get to the pitch, as Arsenal play much earlier. The Reds dropped vital points in their 2-2 draw with West Ham United last time out. That coming after a 2-0 loss to Everton, means Liverpool have managed just one point in their last two matches. Liverpool have also failed to keep a clean sheet in 12 of their last 13 matches. After four straight matches away from home, they will be glad to return to Anfield. They did lose their last two home matches but generally Liverpool are a stronger side when playing at home.
Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to complete a double over Liverpool, following a 2-1 win in the reverse fixture. Should Spurs achieve that, it will be their second win over Liverpool in their last 14 meetings. A win would also go a long way in reviving their fading Champions League hopes. Spurs are coming from a 2-0 defeat at Chelsea, their third straight loss. Not even extended time to rest has helped Spurs and one would see the resignation in their faces at the Chelsea loss. In the last three matches alone, they conceded nine goals. The North London side has managed just one clean sheet in the last 15 matches. Meanwhile, they failed to score in two of their last three matches, both times in away games. It will worry Spurs that they have just one win in their last nine away league games. They managed just one goal in their last four away matches.
Liverpool are going back to Anfield after back to back away matches and will be favorites here. They face a side that has been struggling not only in attack, but also away from home. Spurs have also not had a great run against Liverpool in recent meetings and this game favors the home team. Our prediction for Liverpool v Tottenham Hotspur is for Liverpool to win.
